Looking to improve your feelings of self-worth and confidence? Positive affirmations are powerful tools that will help you do just that. Positive affirmations can help you transform your health, happiness, and any other area of your life.

Imagine for a minute you are about to do something big. Like take an important test or go into a job interview. You feel nervous in the pit of your stomach. A lot is riding on this. You are in a cold sweat and breathing quickly.

If before you go in to start you have someone tell you “Well, don’t get your hopes up.” or “You’ve never been very good at this.” How would it make you feel? Terrible right?! How would you perform? Not as well as you would like.
Now imagine for a moment that instead of that unkind voice you hear a familiar voice telling you “You’ve totally got this!” and “I believe in you.” How do you feel now? How much more likely are you to perform well?

Life is just like this scenario. When we have positive thoughts about ourselves and our abilities we feel good and perform better. But we don’t have to wait around for someone else to tell us these things. We can actually create this positive environment around ourselves simply by using positive affirmations.

How Affirmations Work

An affirmation is a statement we repeat, preferably out loud to ourselves several times a day. They work even better if you can look in the mirror while you say them. Affirmations must be positive and believable. They need to be stated in a way that the brain can believe that they are possible and doable.

For example, if a person needs to lose 100 pounds and the affirmation is “I am thin” that doesn’t really give the RAS much to work on. If, however, the affirmation is “Everyday I fuel my body with nutritious food”. Or “I take time every day to move and exercise in positive and healthy ways”. That gives the brain a command to start moving towards. Then loosing the 100 pounds begins to happen.

The RAS or Reticular Activating System is a very powerful part of our brains that when given a command, such as an affirmation, will go to work searching for ways to make it happen. The more the affirmation is repeated and worked towards, the more it is reinforced in our thinking. This is how a habit is established. Just like learning a new skill or building muscle, affirmations need to be repeated consistently with enthusiasm. And the more often you repeat them the better they work.

So let’s get that RAS working to create the life you deserve. Here are 32 positive affirmations that are all Christian based. If you say them in the mirror each day you will see your life transform.
