Have you ever stopped to consider how enjoying “the NOW” keeps you happy and healthy? It doesn’t take a lot of time or energy BUT it transforms your life!

Have you ever thought “if I can just get through this” or “if I could only (fill in the blank)” or “things will be better when…” I think it’s not an over-exaggeration to say that everyone does this from time to time. We’ve all felt that happiness was something in the future that just wasn’t within reach.

When we do this we rob ourselves of SO much joy and contentment.

The truth is all we really have is RIGHT now. Tomorrow doesn’t exist yet and when it does it will actually be today. Waiting for another day to be happy ensures you never are. We can only live in the present.

If we constantly wish our hours and days away until things are better or perfect, we get stressed out and never get to really live. And I have a little secret…things will never be “perfect” in this life. But they can be (and most of the time are) so very wonderful.

As we head into the holidays, do yourself a big favor, relax, enjoy the mess, the busyness and the chaos. Enjoy the noise, the late hours, and the chance to be with those who mean so much to you.

Don’t be afraid to ask for some help and don’t worry if everything doesn’t look or taste just perfect. That’s just part of being human and real. Be in the moment. Relish the friends and family time, the laughter, the stories they tell, the food and the love. Most of all be sure to make wonderful memories by enjoying right now, it’s all we really need!
